KSS_Pennovation

The University of Pennsylvania’s new Pennovation Center is a rebel, a futurist, a disruptor. It’s a phenomenon of a building that is also a machine for sparking new growth in the fields of learning, commerce, and community across greater Philadelphia and beyond. What’s more, its bold approach to sustainability that leverages its industrial heritage as an engine for research and learning has earned it a LEED Gold rating.

Future Leaders Fellowship

AIAeagle_2016FELLOWSHIP FOR EMERGING LEADERS 2016
JOIN US AT CONVENTION IN PHILADELPHIA!

A LITTLE HISTORY

The AIA Board of Directors Class of 2013 selected as its name The Original 13 from the 13 Architects, led by Richard Upjohn, who founded the AIA in 1857.   We chose our class name in recognition of the AIA’s legacy, but we are all about looking to the future.

We care deeply about future generations of architects – and leaders – and want to join hands with Emerging Professionals to frame the future for our profession.

THE IDEA

Enough about us – we want to know about you! In fact, we want to meet you at the AIA Convention this May in Philadelphia. We are offering up to five fellowships in the amount of $1,000 each so that you can join us at Convention, expand your career horizons and look to the future.

HOW THIS WORKS

Send us a Tweet of Interest to tell us what you would learn by attending the Convention as an Emerging Leader. Our Class will review all Tweets and select ten finalists. These finalists will be asked to write and submit a more detailed narrative of their aspirations. Up to five Fellowship Recipients will be selected on the basis of their narratives.

Each Fellowship Recipient will be paired with Class of 2013 Board Directors during the Convention and will receive a $1,000 stipend to offset expenses. Our goal is to help each Fellowship Recipient realize his/her aspirations at Convention, and we want to get to know you personally and form lasting relationships. After Convention we will ask you to report on your experiences to share with other Emerging Leaders.

GRAPHISOFT Student Design Competition

Philly-Streets-shutterstock_97749506

GRAPHISOFT North America announces an exciting student design competition that challenges you to position Philadelphia’s rich history in front of the millions of tourists who visit it annually. The City of Brotherly Love hosts dozens of concerts, conventions, sporting events, and festivals – so the draw is there, but what the city lacks are temporary mobile visitor centers that can be brought to those venues and welcome event attendees.

In this national one-stage competition – all US-based architecture students (graduate or undergraduate) will be challenged to develop and design a mobile visitors’ center using shipping containers which could be constructed in various locations around the city of Philadelphia.

A total of $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners.

Click here for information on eligibility, how to register, submission deadlines and entry requirements. Or visit competition.graphisoftus.com

For additional information or questions about the competition, please contact Rita Hicks, GRAPHISOFT North America [email protected]

Brought to you by GRAPHISOFT North America, makers of ARCHICAD, and noted architectural and engineering firm, Kitchen & Associates, and proudly supported by AIA West Jersey, a section of AIA New Jersey.
