AIA National Convention Update from AIA-NJ COTE

AIA-NJ’s resolution requesting national to define the term environmentally responsible design contained in the new AIA contract documents failed to pass during the regular business session. This cryptic term remains undefined by AIA, leaving professionals exposed potentially because of the vagueness of the terminology and leaving it to others to define the term for us rather than taking a position, in my humble opinion. AIA-NJ COTE will continue to work through COTE nationally and our Regional Director to define environmentally responsible design for our members and produce the tools to meet the Architecture 2030 initiatives.
